Busy Times!

April 23, 2010

Hi everyone!

We have been super busy here at Robonica, playing new games and of course I’ve been sharpening my Space Pods skills for the next tournament on April 17th!

Since last time we have changed up our format for the tournament to make things go much smoother! All you have to do is go to this link: www.roboni-i.com/registration to sign up for a time slot to qualify for the Championship game. Need some extra money? Well the winners will receive a total of $150.00! Come in second or third place? Don’t sweat it, you still win cash prizes!! Make sure you hurry and sign up before all the slots are taken for the qualifying rounds…

I think this job is almost too fun, we’ve been battling in Space Pods at work these past few weeks when we can. I almost lost my World title to Mike Leykin, but I’m not quite ready to retire… I’ve been playing some of the new games too, like CodeBreaker, which is pretty cool. The object is to load the colors from the Uni Hubs in a certain order and then shoot the base station to unlock it before time runs out. Pretty intense-try it and see what you think!

April is a huge month for robotics in Massachusetts, Museum of Science in Boston is hosting Robotics Week April 10-17th. If you’ve never been, think about going…you just might spy Roboni-i!

Roboni-i SpacePods Tournament

December 16, 2009

AS: Lots has happened since my last post…where to start!?
We had an intense Space Pods tourney @ Bishop Fenwick High School in Peabody, MA against Marblehead High; Marblehead won!
Zac and I just got back from NYC last night. We demo’d all day at FAO Schwarz and even got to see the performers on the huge piano. After FAO we took some hilarious footage of Roboni-i trying to finish off a ZhuZhu pet by frying it in the microwave-check it out on YouTube!!!
9 days til Christmas, make sure you have Roboni-i on your wish list, the online world is amazing and will be out this weekend! Word on the street is that there is going to be a sweet promo along with the launch of the virtual world!
Happy Holidays :) :

Roboni-i Pittsburgh Tour

November 25, 2009
AS: Home from Pittsburgh, PA! What an awesome visit to the Carnegie Science Center we had. Unfortunately Zac was missed, but Boss kept me company! Tons of people got to test out Roboni-i and I saw quite a few adding them to their Holiday wish lists.
We also got to make an appearance at Cal U during the VEX Robotics Competition where I was able to keep Boss driving upside down for a good 10 seconds. How beast! (That’s what one of our Pitts fans referred to it as-aka: sweet!)
Challenge for you: try and drive your Roboni-i upside down for a solid 3 seconds minimum. If you video it-send it to me: ashleys@robonica.com and I’ll post the best one to Facebook and YouTube!
Turkey Day is almost here, be thankful for your Roboni-i if you have one, otherwise be sure to add it your Holiday Wishlist! You can download a holiday wish list here:

Roboni-i – Robots on the West Coast

November 18, 2009

AS: Here I am right now in sunny San Francisco, California with Roboni-i! Roboni-i was featured on KRON4 on Gabe Slate’s Tech Report segment. You can check it out at: http://www.kron.com/News/FeaturedReporters/GabrielSlatesTechReport/tabid/75/Default.aspx

Roboni-i was also on KTVU out in San Francisco, that clip can be seen here: http://www.ktvu.com/video/21634219/index.html

We also stopped by the magazine 944.  Boss, my red Roboni-i, looked awesome driving around on their purple carpet! I am heading out to Pittsburgh next. If anyone is in the Pittsburgh area, I will be over at the Robotics Competition at Cal U Friday and at the Carnegie Science Center on Saturday. I’ll give you all an update on Pittsburgh next week.

Roboni-i Visiting Robot Clubs

November 17, 2009
ZS- Hey everyone!
Just wanted to let everyone know that I had a great time visiting the
Watertown HS Robotics Team “The KwarQs” in Massachusetts. We all had a great time, and I will post the video next week. I also had fun battling at the Tri-Country Vocational Technical High School in Franklin, Mass. I hope you guys had fun as well!
Also, this week, the Burlington High School Robotics Team had a Space-pods competition that  was pretty intense!!! If any other Robotics Team wants a demo or have  a competition leave a comment or get in touch with us and we’ll try to make it to your school…

Roboni-i – Follow the Leader

November 11, 2009

ZS: Just installed a beta acrobatics program on my Roboni-i. This allows me to simultaneously control up to four robots using my wireless controller (using ZigBee technology of course). When using this program, you “lead” other robots to their destination. This is just an example of how the co-op mission games will work in the future (just a teaser). I made them all dance in sync, and then chase my cat for a few more hours. Who said hacking isn’t fun???

Roboni-i Pod Chase

November 10, 2009

AS: Hey guys! So I was just playing the flash game Roboni-i Pod-Chase and got a high score! Just not high enough to be posted on the homepage… haha

The better I get maneuvering Rusty, my metallic orange Roboni-i, around with my remote the better score I get online…coincidence?!

Zac told me he has his Roboni-i programmed to chase his cat, now this I gotta see!!!

Looking forward to Pittsburgh next week to demo our hot ‘bots at the Robotics Competition at California University and then at the Carnegie Science Center! I’ll be able to show off my awesome gaming skills against Zac! I already beat him a handful of times playing Space Pods so there’s no doubt I can do it again! Maybe we’ll even catch it on camera soon for proof.
